Program Goals

The program is designed to emphasize the versatility and value of a liberal arts education while preparing students for entrance into one of Faulkner University’s bachelor’s degree programs.

Liberal Arts Associate Degree Curriculum

Both the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science in Liberal Arts consist of 62 credit hours. Students will complete courses in a variety of subjects to grow their skills in problem-solving and critical analysis, including Christian literacy, mathematics, sciences, computer programming, psychology, ethics, and literature. In either degree track, students will complete the following coursework:

  • 12 credit hours in Christian Literacy
  • Nine credit hours in Cultural Heritage Literacy
  • Seven credit hours in Mathematical and Scientific Literacy
  • Nine credit hours in Information and Communication Literacy
  • Seven hours in Personal and Social Literacy
  • 18 credit hours of electives

Classes are typically scheduled in two eight-week sessions per term, and most students take two courses at a time. Additional information is available in our undergraduate catalog.

Our online degree programs offer flexible scheduling, allowing students to complete an associate degree without the scheduling conflicts and other challenges associated with a conventional on-campus program. Admission and Application Information

Students seeking admission to Faulkner University’s online associate degree program must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a high school graduate with a regular or advanced diploma, or hold an equivalent GED certificate.
  • If you have been out of high school for less than five years, ACT or SAT scores are required for admission. Minimum scores are:
    • ACT: 18 (composite)
    • SAT: 970

ACT or SAT scores are not required for applicants who graduated high school more than five years ago. Transfer applicants who have a minimum of 24 transferable hours from a regionally accredited college or university also do not need to submit ACT or SAT scores.

Students who wish to apply to the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science in Liberal Arts program will first need to complete and submit an online application. If you have completed college-level coursework at other institutions, you will also need to complete an Official Transcript Request form and submit it to any previously attended schools with the appropriate fee.
