Why Nursing?
If you are looking for a lucrative, in-demand job, nursing is an excellent choice. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects a strong job outlook for nurses, with a median pay of $86,070 annually and a 6% predicted growth in employment over the next decade. With widespread shortages, nurses can find jobs everywhere in the nation. They can work in various healthcare environments, including hospitals, doctors’ offices, clinics, schools, and more. Nurses enjoy other rewards as well, including:
- Challenging and engaging work
- Opportunities to specialize or diversify
- Building relationships with patients
- Respect from the community
- Making a difference in people’s lives
In combination, these benefits make nursing a career with high satisfaction, making this a decision you can feel confident about.
Our Transfer Nursing Program
Nursing students at Faulkner University first complete our Lower Division program. This segment includes two years of pre-nursing core courses that build a strong academic base. Students who meet the academic requirements may then progress into the Upper Division for four semesters of nursing school and hands-on clinical experience. On completion of Upper Division courses, students earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing and are qualified to take the nursing licensing exam.
Transfer students who have already completed all Lower Division requirements can apply to the Upper Division of the program. This fast track makes it an excellent option for transfer students who have begun their education elsewhere and want a quick completion. In just a few years, students can earn their licensure and start working as registered nurses.
Transfer Student Admissions Policy
When transferring to Faulkner University, all official transcripts must be sent directly from their school of origin to Faulkner University. These credits must be awarded by a regionally accredited college, from which the applicant must not be under suspension for any reason. In addition, students with fewer than 24 transferable semester hours must also submit an official high school transcript.
Students wishing to enroll in Upper Division must have completed all Lower Division requirements with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75 out of 4.0. Exceptions may be granted for Faulkner University Bible course requirements. Transfer students may complete these courses during the summer semesters of Upper Division.
Transfer students who have attended nursing programs at another school are also required to submit a Letter of Good Standing signed by the administrator of their prior nursing program. This letter is to verify that the student was in good moral, ethical, legal status, and able to return at that school.
