Stanhope Elmore High School teacher and football coach, Blake Cook was honored as the College of Education’s Young Alumnus at Faulkner’s 2020 Marketplace Faith Friday Forums.

Cook graduated with his Education degree from Faulkner in 2018. At the time, he already held a Bachelor of Science degree in Resources Management and a Master’s degree and had a successful finance career. However, he decided to enroll at Faulkner and pursue his dream of teaching.

He currently teaches secondary math and computer science as well as sponsor the robotics team, eSports team, Computer Science Honor Society, Computer Science and Technology club and coaches football.

“In 2011 I decided to pursue a long-term dream of becoming a teacher and began working toward that goal. I started by tutoring part time at The Learning Place in Millbrook,” Cook said.

Born and raised in Prattville, Alabama, Cook graduated from Prattville High in 1992. After high school he joined the Army and served four years on active duty followed by seven years in the National Guard and Army Reserve.

After his active duty service he worked his way through college and began a career in finance. He worked as a banking center manager, business development officer, and small business banker and earned an MBA in Finance during those ten years in the finance industry.

He then began working toward an Alternative Masters in Secondary Math Education and worked at Brantwood Children’s Home as a Math and Science teacher for two years before moving to Stanhope Elmore High School.
