Speech-Language Pathology graduate, Margaret Berryman M.S. CCC-SLP is now doing what she loves- working with children to improve their speech, language and swallowing disorders and provide them with a better quality of life.
She graduated from Faulkner University with her Bachelors of Science in Health and Rehabilitation Psychology in 2017 and then later from the College of Health Sciences with her Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology in 2022.
Berryman completed her Clinical Fellowship at Excel Rehabilitation in Montgomery, Alabama before moving to Florence, Alabama, where she currently works at Stepping Stone Pediatric Therapy. Her clinical interests include AAC, early language, and swallowing disorders.
She evaluates and treats children with different forms of AAC, apraxia of speech, articulation and language disorders, fluency and pragmatic disorders, and neurogenic disorders. In addition, Berryman treats individuals with Autism, Downs Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Cleft lip/palate, and intellectual disabilities.
“I work with them to develop goals, complete daily documentation, conduct speech and language evaluations and carry out treatment using play-based therapy and sensory play,” she said. “What I love most is being able to build relationships with the families I work with and watch the children gain and develop new skills.”
While at Faulkner, Berryman knew that her professors cared for her and wanted the best for her in her professional life as well as her personal well being. They taught her how to be a clinician of faith.
“The education I received has helped me to be successful in being able to not only help people therapeutically, but also to be the hands and feet of Christ to the children and families I serve while doing so,” Berryman said. “The faculty at Faulkner are invested in their students, they want to help them succeed, and they always put an emphasis on what a testimony Gods’ creation is. I have been able to learn from the professors and see this stressed in their courses as well in their daily lives. It always comes back to God and His creation.”
She has been married to Nick Berryman for six years and they have two children, Carter, 2, and Wanda,1, and are expecting another little girl in June 2024.
