Faulkner Law alum Elliot Smith was named for the first time as one of the top 37 lawyers to watch by The Best Lawyers in America.
Originally from Dothan, Alabama, Smith is now based in Nashville, Tennessee where he is an associate at the firm Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP. Smith works primarily with banks and healthcare organizations including “hospitals and health systems, ambulatory surgery centers, outpatient services companies, private equity firms and other healthcare investors.”
Smith graduated summa cum laude with his Juris Doctorate from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 2016. He was also the recipient for the Ellen Brooks Merit for Public Service in 2016, a distinction awarded to fellows who exceed thirty hours of public service work during their law school career. During his time at Jones Law School, Smith acted as the Executive Editor for the Faulkner Law Review and was also a part of a national honorary organization called Order of Barristers.
Thirty seven attorneys from Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis were selected exclusively by their peers in order to be showcased on the “Ones to Watch” list. This recognition honors attorneys who have been in practice for 5-9 years and have shown “outstanding professional excellence in private practice in the United States.” Not only must these attorneys be nominated and voted upon by their peers, but they also must undergo an extended process where this feedback is analyzed and where they are confirmed to be in good standing with their local bar associates.
