LaChandra Brooks-Prim has always had a heart for people. Now, as a licensed professional counselor and owner of Vista Counseling & Consultation Services, LLC, she provides counseling to individuals, families and couples in the River Region area.

“I counsel individuals and couples who may be experiencing various struggles in their life. I’ve always had a heart for people and I enjoy helping. I get to do what I love everyday,” Brooks-Prim said.

She graduated from Faulkner with a Masters of Science in Counseling in 2014 and was one of the honored speakers at this year’s Marketplace Faith Friday Forums for the College of Education.

“I had a great experience at Faulkner. The structure of the program was perfect for my schedule,” she said. “It gave me the opportunity to pursue an advanced degree and work. Through Faulkner, I was able to connect with Butterfly Bridge CAC, which is where I started my counseling career.”

“I also had great professors while at Faulkner,” she added. “Dr. Weatherly was very instrumental in providing me guidance throughout my practicum. It made the transition to internship and the workforce smoother. I am grateful to be able to continue serving the community through counseling.”

Brooks-Prim holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Troy University. After graduating from Faulkner with her masters, she began working with Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center as an advocate, therapist, and forensic interviewer from 2014-2022. While working for Butterfly Bridge, Brooks-Prim served children who had experienced multiple types of abuse. She received extensive training on childhood trauma and trauma-informed practices and policies. She was instrumental in helping to organize and distribute training to support the public schools’ implementation of the Erin’s Law curriculum throughout Chilton, Elmore, and Autauga counties. She has been employed with other private agencies delivering counseling services to adults and children.

LaChandra went on to further her education at Walden University where she received a Master of Philosophy in Human and Social Services and she is a doctoral candidate in the program of Human and Social Services. She opened Vista Counseling and Consultation Services in 2020.
