Trent Bailey’s journey to complete his bachelor’s degree from Faulkner was not a traditional one, yet he persevered. After he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies, Trent Bailey now serves as the minister at Cedar Grove Church of Christ.

“For many years I was a part time student while working full time at a secular job; with a few years taking off from school entirely,” Bailey explained. “My education taught me how important it is to invest in myself: That it is never an inopportune time to obtain biblical knowledge, to partake of available resources, and consider the future.”

Bailey was honored as an alumni speaker during this year’s Marketplace Faith Friday Forums for the V.P. Black College of Biblical Studies.

As the minister at Cedar Grove Church of Christ in Andalusia, Alabama, Bailey preaches sermons, teaches adult and youth classes and conducts personal Bible studies and takes part in all church functions, potlucks, youth activities, training classes, VBS, holiday events and more.

Bailey has applied his education and the experience he gained at Faulkner to every aspect of every workplace he has been a part of including his current leadership role.

“My schooling taught me that reading nonfiction books is valuable, that completing difficult tasks are rewarding, and procrastinating is always a bad idea,” Bailey said. “I learned just as much from my professors outside the classroom as much as inside the classroom. I was forever moved when I saw my professors worship at church. It taught me that regardless of how many letters we have after our name, we are all children of God.”
