After graduating from Faulkner University’s Executive Education program, Antoinette Freeman returned to the Faulkner Birmingham campus to speak to current students about her experience and to thank her former professors.
She spoke about how Faulkner University, formerly known as Alabama Christian College, helped shape her life both academically and spiritually, which has in turn helped her to succeed in the midst of life’s challenges.
“I remember Alabama Christian College. I had no idea about registration or financial aid, but everyone was helpful in explaining everything to me,” Freeman said. “I remember Ms. Casselberry in Financial aid and the staff also encouraged me by telling me I can do this. I had a low self-esteem and did not think I was smart. After a year at Alabama Christian College my perspective changed. I knew I was capable of learning and I was determined to complete college.”
Freeman graduated on May 6, 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Degree with Business Management. Pursuing an Executive Education degree was an excellent way for Freeman to develop and sharpen her leadership skills for success, she said.
Since graduation, Freeman has had more confidence to pursue better job opportunities and increase her income.
“Attending Alabama Christian and Faulkner University inspired me,” Freeman said. “My last year at Faulkner was the hardest. I wanted to give up due to life challenges. My son and I were in UAB hospital for approximately a month with COVID and on top of COVID, four months later my ex-husband and father of my children died. All of this took a toll on my mentally capacity. God gave me favor with Mr. Ron Lambert and Mrs. Audrey Williams. They played a major part in helping me complete my degree in order to graduate on time. I am forever grateful.”
