He was recently named as one of the Upper School Assistant Principals starting this 2024 school year.

He was named WSFA Teach of the Month in 2019 and named ACA Coach of the Year in 2023 and was also recognized as the Accomplished Alumnus for Faulkner’s Kinesiology and Exercise Science department for this year’s Marketplace Faith Friday Forums.

Dockins attended Faulkner from 2011-2015 where he played baseball all 4 years and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Phi social club. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and then came back and graduated with his Masters in Business Administration in 2022.

“Faulkner was the best experience I could ask for. The value of a Christian Education is priceless and now that I work in the same type environment, I feel blessed beyond measure,” Dockins said. “The way that I was treated with love, grace, and accountability by my professors and coaches at Faulkner is what I strive to be like with my students and athletes.”

Dockins is currently a teacher and staff member at Alabama Christian Academy and has been since 2015. He taught Bible classes for six years and then took over the Physical Education Department in 2021 as the Director of Eagle FITT. While at ACA, JL also helped coach the football team as the Offensive Coordinator for seven years. “I love teaching and coaching at ACA because it is an opportunity to work with and influence teenagers to become the men and women that God created them to be,” Dockins said.

Dockins, who lives in Wetumpka, Alabama, is an active member at the University Church of Christ. He is married to Faulkner alumna and ACE Director Savannah Dockins for six years and they have a 15-month-old daughter, Emma Jo.
