Dr. Brenda Turner is a professor of graduate research for the Kearley Graduate School of Theology (KGST). She teaches writing skills, research methods and educational programming to KGST students and undergraduate biblical textual courses to women in the VP Black College of Biblical Studies. Additionally, she serves as the KGST Theological Librarian and liaises between the main library and KGST faculty and students in research and library-related needs. Finally, she assists with KGST assessment activities.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Rio Grande College/Community College (currently University of Rio Grande), a master’s degree in library and information science from Indiana University Bloomington, and a Ph.D. in library and information studies from Florida State University.
Turner has also achieved certification in three areas: (1) as a Certified Usability Analyst (CUA) from Human Factors International; (2) Certification in Institutional Research (CIR) from Florida State University; and, (3) a Certified GoCulture Assessment Coach from GoCulture International.
Turner’s current area of research focuses on women in the Biblical text. Recently, she presented research findings on Christ and Paul’s attitude toward women at the Southeast Regional Evangelical Theological Society (March 2017). For her summer research endeavor, she investigated the biblical meaning of the Hebrew word, ‘na-arah.’
