What is the Cradle Through Independence Center?
CTI is a first-of-its-kind, university-affiliated center supporting individuals with disabilities from infancy to age 21. It brings together early intervention, inclusive and specialized education, therapies, family support, and transition services—all in one coordinated hub.

Who will be eligible to attend CTI?
CTI will primarily serve children and young adults with a wide range of developmental, physical, and intellectual disabilities who benefit from individualized instruction and support.

What ages or grade levels will CTI serve?
CTI will begin with a small cohort and gradually expand each year to serve children from infancy through early adulthood (up to age 21). The program will offer developmentally appropriate support at every stage—ranging from early intervention services to postsecondary transition planning.

How will CTI differ from a traditional special education program?
CTI will offer individualized education and therapy within a warm, faith-based environment, designed to provide consistent, lifelong support from infancy through adulthood. Each student is supported by a dedicated care team—including teachers, therapists, and specialists—who collaborate closely with the family to foster growth across all areas of development.

Will CTI be a day program or residential?
CTI will be a day program only. It will operate on a traditional school schedule, Monday through Friday, and students will return home in the afternoons.

Where will CTI be located?
CTI will be located on the campus of Faulkner University (5345 Atlanta Highway).

When will CTI open?

How do I enroll my child in the CTI program?
We anticipate opening in August 2027! We encourage families to sign up under the “Stay in Touch” tab to receive updates, important announcements, and early access to the application process as soon as it becomes available.

What therapies and support services will be available?
CTI will work closely with Faulkner University’s College of Health Sciences and Clinic to offer speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, recreational therapy, counseling, and transition services—all under one roof.

Is religious instruction part of the daily program?
Our program is shaped by Christian values and includes spiritual development thoughtfully woven into the rhythm of each day.

Do families need to be members of a particular faith to enroll?
No. We welcome families from all faith backgrounds. Our Christ-centered values shape how we serve and love each student.

Who will work with students?
Our team will include certified special education teachers, licensed speech, occupational, and physical therapists and mental health counselors, and trained support staff who are passionate about helping each child thrive.
