Faulkner University Sees Growth, Increase in Enrollment Across All Programs This Fall

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner University began the 2023 academic year with a university-wide increase in enrollment, the first for the university since the arrival of the COVID pandemic in 2020.

The improvement in new student enrollment resulted from a variety of initiatives, said Vice President for Enrollment Management Mark Hunt. The College of Health Sciences, Faulkner Law, the traditional program, as well as dual enrollment have all shown increases.

“Our enrollment increases are obviously a very positive sign for the university,” said Hunt. “There have been many contributing factors, but the most important of those has been the increased emphasis on meeting the spiritual needs of our campus community and cultivating vocational ministry among our students.”

Other contributing factors were a freeze on traditional tuition rates for this year, continued development of the College of Health Sciences, and the success of Faulkner Law’s Executive J.D. schedule.

The announcement was made in September that the university would be implementing a tuition freeze for the 2024-2025 academic school year, the second consecutive year to see no tuition increase for traditional full-time students. Faulkner does not, and will not, charge students out of state tuition.

In addition, the overall climate for higher education has improved somewhat as universities move out from under the cloud of the COVID pandemic.

Overall, Faulkner University saw a 3.76 percent increase in enrollment across the board from traditional undergraduate programs, to graduate programs, as well as dual enrollment and online programs. That translates to 107 more students currently enrolled than this time last year for a total of 2,952 students this fall.

“We’ve invested a considerable sum in programs which possess strong appeal and have excellent job markets,” Hunt explained. “We look to continue the momentum into the spring and fall of 2024.”
