Faulkner University is excited to announce the official approval of its Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program, set to launch in August 2025. This marks a significant milestone in the university’s ongoing commitment to expanding its healthcare education offerings and providing students with a Christ-centered, hands-on learning environment.
Faulkner University recently presented its approval request to the Alabama Board of Nursing, and the program was given the green light to begin in Fall 2025. The nursing program will offer a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for successful careers in nursing, emphasizing compassionate care, professional excellence, and Christian values.
“We are thrilled to see this vision come to fruition,” said Faulkner University President Mitch Henry. “Our nursing program will equip future healthcare professionals not only with the knowledge and skills they need, but also with the values of faith, integrity, and service to others. We believe our students will graduate ready to make a real difference in the world.”
The program’s launch is the result of years of hard work and dedication from faculty, staff, and leadership at Faulkner University. Special recognition goes to Dr. Dave Rampersad, Interim Dean of the College of Health Sciences Dr. Cassie Boyd, and Dr. Shellye Vardaman, Program Director of Faulkner’s School of Nursing, who led the efforts in preparing for the presentation and securing approval. Their leadership and commitment have been instrumental in bringing the program to this exciting juncture.
“Congratulations to Dr. Rampersad, Dr. Boyd, Dr. Vardaman, and their entire team for their tireless efforts in making this dream a reality,” said Henry. “We are grateful for their leadership and for God’s continued blessings on this journey.”
Faulkner University’s School of Nursing will offer students a unique opportunity to grow in their profession while developing as compassionate caregivers in a supportive, faith-based environment. With a commitment to academic excellence, the program will include a mix of classroom instruction, clinical experiences, and community-based learning, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet the demands of the evolving healthcare field.
