College of Arts and Sciences

B.A. in Music

Pursue your passion in music and fine-tune your musical talent by pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from Faulkner University

Program Objectives

This four-year degree is designed to provide specialized training in the field of music, including courses in music theory, sight-singing and ear-training, music history, conducting, and orchestration and arranging. Students pursuing the BA degree also receive individualized training each week on their primary instrument as well as performing daily with choral and/or instrumental ensembles. At the conclusion of the degree, students complete an internship in a professional music setting that allows them to see firsthand what it’s like to work in the field.

Admission Requirements
  • Must be a high school graduate with a regular or advanced diploma or have a GED certificate
  • If out of high school for less than five years, ACT (minimum 18 composite) or SAT (minimum 970) scores are required. ACT or SAT scores are not required for anyone having graduated high school more than five years ago.
  • ACT or SAT scores are not required for transfer applicants with a minimum of 24 transferable hours from a regionally accredited college or university.

Program Information

Professional opportunities include participating in the Faulkner University student chapter of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) as well as attending the annual Alabama Music Educators Association Conference.

FAQ

What is Rolling Admissions?

The program evaluates PTCAS verified applications from June 15th until May 1st. This means that we conduct interviews both in the fall and spring semesters. Rather than admitting applicants all at once, we make admission decisions throughout the year.
