Chapel

Chapel is a central part of the Faulkner experience—a time to worship God, receive encouragement, and grow spiritually in community. Programs may include worship, campus announcements, and a message designed to encourage and challenge you. 

Chapel meets at 10:30 a.m. Monday–Thursday, on the Montgomery campus. All students are invited to participate. 

Spiritual Identity 

Our a cappella, male-led chapel services reflect our heritage and affiliation with churches of Christ. Questions or concerns may be directed to the Assistant Dean to Spiritual Life and Chapel Services, Dean of Students, or Dean of Biblical Studies. 

We aim to provide a worship environment that respects diverse Christian perspectives while maintaining our institutional identity. 

Why Chapel Matters 

Chapel is one way we live out Hebrews 10:24–25, encouraging one another toward love and good deeds and not giving up meeting together. These gatherings help deepen faith, broaden perspectives, and strengthen relationships. Faulkner aims to help shape students into Christ-centered people and leaders through intentional time devoted to God each week in chapel. 

Who Participates? 

• • Residential students (Montgomery campus): Attend chapel each day it is offered (Monday–Thursday).
  • Commuter students (Montgomery campus): Participate on days when your class ends at 10:20 a.m. or earlier.

Attendance Responsibilities 

• • Check in: Scan in at the end of every chapel.
  • Participation matters: Because chapel is central to our community identity, chapel participation may be considered in housing decisions, student awards, club leadership, along with academics, conduct, and community involvement.
  • University-sponsored conflicts: If you are involved in an approved university-sponsored event or athletic event, your Chapel attendance is waived when your name appears on the official list submitted by the event sponsor. 

Schedule Conflicts 

If a work or internship schedule conflicts with chapel, complete the Exemption or Modification Request Form within the first two weeks of classes (via the Faulkner Mobile App). Submit employer verification (official email or company letterhead) to the Office of Student Life (studentlife@faulkner.edu) for review. 

Accessibility 

Students with a documented disability or medical condition that affects chapel participation should contact the Office of Accessibility (Nichole Fussell, nfussell@faulkner.edu). Reasonable accommodations are available for approved students and will be handled confidentially. 

Tracking Attendance 

You are expected to monitor your own chapel attendance however the Office of Student Life can provide your current absence total and answer questions.
