Program Objectives
Embark on your journey toward a career in teaching music with Faulkner’s Bachelor of Music Education degree – a comprehensive four-year degree designed to pave the way for a seamless transition to a teaching career.
This degree, which is a collaborative degree between the Department of Music and the College of Education, allows students to focus on improving their personal musicianship while learning the educational philosophies and best practices associated with teaching music.
As part of the faith-based learning community at Faulkner University, the Department of Music and the College of Education incorporate a Christian worldview in each of the classes to equip students to be well prepared spiritually as well as academically in their future careers.
Professional opportunities include participating in the Faulkner University student chapter of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) as well as attending the annual Alabama Music Educators Association Conference. Choral music education majors attend and perform at the biennial Christian College Choral Festival along with several performance opportunities each year throughout the state and beyond. Instrumental music education majors provide marching band performances at all of the home football games during the fall semester as well as multiple concert band performances during the spring semester. Additional small ensemble experiences are also available, including Faulkner Singers and the Faulkner Jazz Ensemble.

Admission Requirements
- Must be a high school graduate with a regular or advanced diploma or have a GED certificate
- If out of high school for less than five years, ACT (minimum 18 composite) or SAT (minimum 970) scores are required. ACT or SAT scores are not required for anyone having graduated high school more than five years ago.
- ACT or SAT scores are not required for transfer applicants with a minimum of 24 transferable hours from a regionally accredited college or university.
