Legal Studies
With a degree in Legal Studies from the Montgomery campus of Faulkner University, graduates are ready to work assisting lawyers and specialists throughout the legal field. This program is approved by the American Bar Association (ABA), and graduates will receive an ABA-approved paralegal certificate along with the legal studies degree.Â
Program Objectives
The Faulkner University Department of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies offers a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice that’s designed for students who wish to seek employment with criminal justice organizations and law enforcement agencies. Our curriculum integrates Christian ethical and moral perspectives with the typical values systems associated with criminal justice and provides a broad-based program of study, including topics that are essential for entering the wide range of fields associated with criminal justice systems. Students who plan to pursue a legal studies degree find that the Legal Studies program provides them with the experience and education they need to make a strong application to law school. Students can receive one of the following: A.S. in Legal Studies, B.S. in Legal Studies, Associate in Legal Studies (ALS)*, or Bachelor in Legal Studies (BLS)*.

Admission Requirements
- Must be a high school graduate with a regular or advanced diploma or have a GED certificate
- If out of high school for less than five years, ACT (minimum 18 composite) or SAT (minimum 970) scores are required. ACT or SAT scores are not required for anyone having graduated high school more than five years ago.
- ACT or SAT scores are not required for transfer applicants with a minimum of 24 transferable hours from a regionally accredited college or university.
Program Information
On April 1, 2025, our Legal Studies Program was approved by the ABA Standing Committee for reapproval. This reapproval affirms that the program continues to comply with the Guidelines for the Approval of Paralegal Education Programs.
