Jacob Payne, a legal studies graduate and law degree holder from Faulkner University, is now practicing personal injury law at Dothan Law Group, LLC in his hometown of Dothan, Alabama.

Payne graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies in 2018, graduated with his Juris Doctor from Jones Law School in 2020 and passed the Alabama State Bar in 2021. He moved to Dothan where he lives with his wife and college-sweetheart, Ali.

He returned to Faulkner’s campus earlier this year where he was honored as the Accomplished Alumnus for the College of Arts and Sciences’ Criminal Justice and Legal Studies department.

His time as a student while at Faulkner University was instrumental in shaping both his academic and personal growth, he said.

“The camaraderie I found within Epsilon Phi Upsilon and the connections I formed remain invaluable to me,” Payne said. “Faulkner is also where I met the love of my life, Ali Presley Payne.  Together, we’re raising two amazing boys and building a life filled with love and adventure.”

As an attorney, Payne said he is able to utilize the skills he learned to assist those who have suffered injustices and make them as whole as the law will allow.

“The education I received at Faulkner equipped me with the vocabulary and perspective necessary for law school and my legal career,” Payne said. “I am grateful for the solid foundation it provided, enabling me to navigate the legal landscape with integrity and faith, not only in legal principles but also in ethical and moral considerations as well.”

Payne and Ali have been married five years and they now have two sons. As a family, they are active with the Westgate Church of Christ. When Payne is not working or home spending time with his family, you can find him on a golf course.
