Re: Degree Completion and Commencement Changes

The 2009 – 2010 academic calendar has been amended to address Faulkner’s growing graduation demands in limited space. The University’s effort to meet the graduates’ needs and to provide timely diplomas and transcripts has culminated in the following two significant changes.

CONFERRING DEGREES
Starting with the current 2009 summer enrollment, degrees will be conferred and diplomas prepared three times annually, adding a summer degree completion opportunity to our conventional fall and spring practices.Students who finish their degree program by the last day of August will be eligible to receive their diploma in September, rather than wait until December.Students who wish to take advantage of the new summer completion opportunity must complete a graduation application form by July 1, 2009.Diplomas will be mailed in early September as soon as all grades have been entered on the transcripts.

The 2009 – 2010 calendar lists all three graduation application dates for the upcoming school year.A new updated Graduation Application Form will be available on the Faulkner.edu website very soon.Students must meet all academic requirements and follow the stated guidelines for applying for graduation.

COMMENCEMENT
There will be one commencement day starting with the 2009-2010 academic year. The date for the Annual Graduation Exercises is Friday, April 30, 2010. All students receiving a degree between May 2009 and May 2010 will have an opportunity to march in the annual commencement exercise.Traditional program candidates, to include A.A., A.S., B.A., B.S., MABS, MCJ, M.Ed., and MLA, will march at 10:00 a.m. with all others marching at 2:00 p.m.

Additional information concerning application process, times, dates and procedures may be found on the University website.
