Free health care forum open to public
Health care reform questions will be answered by a panel of professionals.
Health care reform: it's on everyone's mind, but what does it all mean? For answers to your questions by professionals who know the health care ropes, come to a forum on Tues., Sept. 1 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on the Faulkner University campus.
Hosted by Faulkner student group, Young Americans for Liberty, the forum will feature a panel of doctors consisting of Drs. Barton Cook and R. Bob Mullins, Jr. Dr. Cook, a native of Montgomery, served in the United States Army for seven years after attending medical school at the University of South Alabama, and following a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at the Medical College of Georgia, he returned to Montgomery and opened the first pediatric cardiology practice in central Alabama. Dr. Mullins is a partner in a private practice in Valley, Ala. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1968 and has held several service and leadership positions in his many years in the medical field, including serving as President of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama for 2004-2005 and serving on the Alabama Family Practice Rural Health Board from 1990 until 2003.
Not only will the panel address the proposed health care legislation and how it will affect the local community, they will answer audience questions about Congress' prospective health care reform.
The forum will be moderated by local talk radio host Kevin Elkins, and is free and open to the public. The event will be held in the Rotunda Auditorium at Faulkner University.
