Young Americans for Liberty at Faulkner University

The national Young Americans for Liberty organization has found its niche among a few Faulkner students. As a continuation of the Students for Ron Paul movement, the group advocates limited government, individual liberties and a free market.

Faulkner's chapter, lead by President Audrey McMullen, a senior liberal arts major from Montgomery, Ala., aims to educate students as the future generation of leaders on the principles of the Constitution. "We want to help educate people about individual liberty on our campus and also get more involved in politics in our community." YAL is independent of party affiliations, as they accept anyone attracted to the fundamentals of liberty.

The group has plans for an informational event on Tax Day, April 15, 2009. "We'll have flyers and other literature to hand out and explain why the bailouts are harmful along with what your income taxes really pay for," McMullen said.

Also, Faulkner's chapter of YAL recently hosted New York Times bestselling author, Tom Woods, to speak on his economically-minded book "Meltdown" on March 10, 2009. By inviting speakers like Woods and hosting informative events, the group encourages students to be educated and involved in government and politics. "America was founded by and for the people and it is high time the people took a more active interest in government again," McMullen says.
