A note from Joel Dilbeck, Alumni Office
The Alumni Office has been very busy these past few months. One of the things we've been cooking up is the revival of our alumni association. I've assembled a board to help design this group so it can benefit you the most. One of the board members, Jason Isbell, outlines what's in the works...
Did you know that Faulkner University has over 30,000 alumni? It's true! For over 60 years, Faulkner graduates have made their way to all parts of the globe, yet each of them maintains a connection to our alma mater. But to be honest, for a variety of reasons, some of those connections are not as strong as they could be. Realizing that the "Faulkner Family" is one of the University's most important assets, the Advancement Office has taken on a new initiative: resurrecting the Faulkner University Alumni Association.
The Association was officially formed years ago, but we want to redouble our efforts in keeping you informed. We don't want you to miss out on any of the great accomplishments and events of the recent past--the NAIA Basketball National Championship, the first win in the history of Faulkner's football program, the beautiful new buildings on the main campus, the first sessions of our Semester Abroad programs, Jones School of Law receiving provisional accreditation from the American Bar Association--or miss out on Faulkner's exciting future.
That's where the revived Association comes in! Led by a diverse advisory board, The Circle, the Alumni Association's new name, is under construction, and the board is excited about its future. While we plan to add a few more members, the board is currently composed of James Burch ('00), Darin Phillips ('96), Jason Isbell ('02), Adam Donaldson ('07), Missy Hilyer Jones ('92), Mike Johnson ('02), Rick Williams ('01), John Patterson ('83) and Ryan Frederick ('98).
In the near future, you'll hear more about our vision for how to strengthen the connections between the University and her alumni. Our long-term plans include the creation of local association chapters, the establishment of a scholarship program, and the hosting of numerous on-campus events. In the short-term, we plan on taking your ideas and putting them into action. Plus, we'll be holding a membership drive in the next few months and are scheduled to host a reception in May for our 2009 graduating class.
Whether you graduated from Montgomery Bible College, Alabama Christian College, Jones School of Law, or were a student in any of the undergraduate or graduate programs offered at any one of Faulkner's campuses, we hope you'll consider being one of our first members.
In the meantime, you can get reacquainted with long-lost classmates. Join our Facebook "Faulkner Alumni" group. Catch up with old friends and share photos, post blogs and e-mail old pals. It's a great way to reminisce about your days at Faulkner.
