Hope for a hopeless world
Faulkner University Bible Lectureship 2009
On March 2-5, Faulkner's 66th Annual Bible Lectureship explores the theme "Hope for a Hopeless World." The topic addresses a common situation with which all humankind is familiar --despair in the face of the unknown. The selected speakers will reveal the truth that Christians know: we have hope in our promise of God's protection and oversight in all matters, freeing us from anxiety and fear.
Along with the regular schedule, Faulkner highlights three special tracks of emphasis. To commence the program, Monday consists of a series of lectures on the great men of the restoration movement in Alabama. Each morning youth and family ministry sessions are offered. New this year, the University Church hosts a prison ministry workshop presenting information concerning the Lord's work among prisoners.
This year, Faulkner alumnus Raymond Elliott, is honored for his generous support of Christian education. Elliot, who has preached for over 55 years in Alabama congregations, serves on the Board of Regents of Amridge University as vice-chairman and is a supporter of Wiregrass Christian Camp.
The annual lectureship is an encouragement for all its attendees. The lectures exhort Christians with the hope found in Jesus as "a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul" (Hebrews 6:19).
