Graduates eager to enrich their communities
On Friday, December 21, Faulkner University will release nearly 400 new graduates, and they are intent on positively affecting their communities.
Graduate Tina Cronic, an elementary education major, will be taking a job teaching 2nd grade at Holtville Elementary School. Not only will she be teaching traditional subjects, she will help mold character. "The elementary years are when children are shaped into the people they will become in later grades," explained Cronic. "Through my example and the knowledge I share, I hope I'll enable them to better face the challenges they will face in middle and high school."
Cronic loves watching these young minds grow and learn. During her internship, she watched an autistic student move from avoiding her to becoming friends. "By the end of term, she would run up and give me hugs. That was very rewarding," said Cronic.
The speaker for both the 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. ceremonies is J. Craig King, president of J.P. King Auction Company. A Gadsden, Ala., native, King has been featured on news shows such as CBS's "48 Hours" and "This Morning," CNBC and CNN, as well as in leading publications including the New York Times, Chicago Daily Tribune, Wall Street Journal and Forbes.
Faulkner University takes pride in equipping students with not only a quality education, but a passion for service as well. Through these soon-to-be alumni, the environments they enrich will give testimony to Faulkner fulfilling its mission of creating a caring, Christian atmosphere where every individual matters every day.
