Dedications honor generosity
Margaret Berry Harris Residence Hall
Following the traditional convocation chapel on Sept. 10, students, employees and friends of Faulkner University attended the dedication ceremony for the Margaret Berry Harris Residence Hall. A crowd of over 500 gathered in the sunny area just outside the building and listened as President Billy D. Hilyer, trustee Henry Parker, and student Lauri Ann Wadley expressed their gratitude to generous donors Kenneth and Margaret Harris and Lamar Harrison.
Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, guests were invited to tour the dormitory. Several student rooms were open for viewing, showcasing the flexible design of the rooms that allow each student to tailor the arrangement to their needs.
Freeman-Harrison Student Multiplex
Sept. 15 was a red-letter day for student life at Faulkner University. The Freeman-Harrison Student Multiplex was dedicated after many years in the planning. Dedicated friends of the University assembled in the Tine Davis Gymnasium to give ear to words of appreciation from John Hill, trustee, Dr. Terry Brown, professor, John Gordon, director of student activities, Ryan Cantrell, Student Government Association president, and President Hilyer.
The group then moved to the newly constructed Henry Parker Gymnasium for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Trustee and donor Carlton Freeman cut the ribbon with Tanya Eubanks and Lisha May, daughters of trustee and donor Lamar Harrison.
“We love having ready access to the gym floor, the beautiful new offices, and the great new classrooms with their advanced technology,” said Brown. What has impressed him is the energy it brings to campus. “One of the first days it was open I walked in and the place was alive! There were people on the racquetball courts, in the weight room, shooting baskets and walking on the track. It made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. It was what every P.E. teacher lives to see!”
