American Bar Association (ABA)
The Legal Studies Program offered by the main campus in Montgomery, Alabama is approved by the American Bar Association. Students graduating with a Legal Studies degree from the Montgomery campus will receive an ABA-approved paralegal certificate along with their Legal Studies degree. The American Bar Association defines a legal assistant or paralegal as "a person qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible."
The National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA)
NALA is a professional association for paralegals and legal assistants. It is a non-profit organization. NALA provides education and professional development programs for paralegals from the novice to an experienced professional. - Student membership available, please see legal studies director for applications
Alabama Association of Paralegals (AAOPI)
AAOPI enrollment is offered year-round. Resources for members to increase their knowledge in the Paralegal profession - Student membership available, please see legal studies director for applications
American Association for Paralegal Education (AAFPE)
AAFPE is a national organization that serves the needs of paralegal educators and institutions offering paralegal educational programs.
