Dr. Uduak Afangideh Integrates Technology into BIO 1300 |
|
May 25, 2012 |
Dr. Uduak Afangideh didn't wait until this fall to start integrating the iPads into her classrooms. Instead, she has taken advantage of the Apple Learning Lab that is available in the Gus Nichols Library. With the iPads, Dr. Afangideh's Perspectives of Biology course comes to life as students actively engage in the lesson. Here are a few examples of how students are using the iPads in her course.
During class, students use a QR reader to quickly access discussion boards, websites, and other content. One particular site Dr. Afangideh has her students access with the QR reader is TodaysMeet. Additionally, since students receive their lesson notes prior to class, they are able to access them with the Pages app. Now, instead of focusing on writing notes during class, they have more time to focus more on the discussion taking place. The iPad also allows for collaboration as students are allocated class time to work in small groups researching information pertaining to the topic being discussed. That information is later presented the rest of the class.
As you can see, the iPad instantly transforms the classroom into an interactive learning environment! An environment that changes the way students learn! |
